I know both of these thanks to my mom! The first is blood root (one of my other favorite flowers!) and the other is skunk cabbage! I just learned that this month... no green thumb here!
Do you know the blue flower species (my very favorite) on my new blog? I'll give you a hint - they come from Russia...
You know I rechecked my bloodroot and discovered it did not have fuzzy stems... and the leaves were different... knowing my black thumb that first one is a strawberry flower or something!
I check your blog now and then... drawn by your photos... did you get one of the owl??

You're right on the skunk cabbage-my son loves that one for obvious boy reasons. Not sure about the other, but thanks for visiting owl mama.
Saw a saw-whet owl in our backyard hunting for worms a few weeks ago-great thing to witness.

This one has had me stumped myself.
There are some good photos back in January and September, I believe. It's the camera, I'm an amatuer.
I didn't get a picture of the owl unfortunately, by the time I thought of it, it was too late, but it was dark, except for the porch light.
